The Logitech G5 is a corded gaming mouse that is quite similar in look and feel to the wireless G7. One major difference is that the G7 has a slot underneath for battery insertion while the G5 has a slot for inserting the weight caddy. The Logitech G5 comes with a pack of 16 small weights with 8 weights of 4.5g and 8 of 1.7g.
Some of the new features that can be noticed on the Logitech G5 include the orange light indicators on buttons used for changing dpi settings. Another new and interesting feature is tilt clicking. In order to make tilt clicking a wee bit easier and to reduce total movement especially when the user is groping for the right button while playing a war game, the G5 has got all the clicks on the scroll wheel. The toughest part is to middle click the scroll wheel and this might take at least 2-weeks of regular practice and usage.
The sleekest set up on the Logitech G5 is the weighted cartridge and it can be considered as a great contribution to the future of gaming. The maximum configuration of weights that the G5 can hold is 36g, which is quite heavy for gaming.
One of the major highlights of the Logitech G5 is the accurate laser and the overall accuracy rate enhanced by 500 reports per second. For Windows 95/ME users, the rate is restricted to 125 reports per second.
