The Logitech MX518 is a wired gaming mouse that is small enough to enable quick movements in a gaming environment. In the dpi segment, the MX518 lags behind the G5 or the G7 but 1600 dpi is still quite a lot. The Logitech MX518 has five dpi sensitivity settings – 800, 1100, 1250, 1400, 1600 and this enables a gamer to increase their frag count in a FPS (first person shooter). The five available sensitivity settings can be pre-programmed using the Logitech application CD-ROM. The dpi settings button is situated just below the scroll wheel on the mouse.
The Logitech MX518 has the standard Logitech shape and design and nothing too jazzy. There are two standard buttons on the left and right of the scroll wheel. Just under the thumb are the forward and the backward button, which are useful for flipping back and forth while browsing the internet. The grip on the MX518 is comfortable to enable long hours of playtime while super slick feet assist in gliding and smooth motion.
Some of the salient features and functionalities of the Logitech MX518 include image processing at 5.8 megapixels per second, throughput of 16 bit/axis USB data format, and 125/sec USB report rate, acceleration of 15g, and button life of 8 million clicks. The MX518 is compatible with both PC and PS/2.
